Resources of Tanzania and their locations

Tanzania has many valuable resources which contribute to the growth of its economy. Such resources need to be identified, conserved, and developed for the benefit of the present and future generations.

These resources are divided into two main groups, which are

• natural and
• man-made resources.

Some natural resources in Tanzania include

• land
• natural forests
• rivers
• lakes
• the ocean
• different types of minerals
• wildlife conservation areas
• and natural gas.

Some of these resources provide raw materials for the industries that manufacture goods. Tanzania also has various man-made resources. An example of such resources is infrastructure, which includes roads, railways, ports and airports.

All these are essential for individual and national development. Natural and man-made resources can be subdivided into

• renewable and
• non-renewable resources.

Renewable resources are those which, when used properly, can be easily replenished. Examples of renewable resources are

• agricultural land
• water
• forests
• wildlife
• fish
• air
• solar and wind energy.

Non-renewable resources are those which, when used, cannot easily be replenished. Example of these resources are

• minerals and
• natural gas.
