Dividing whole numbers by decimals

Divide 240 by 2 to get 120.

Example 2

$65 \div 0.05$

Solution

$65 \div 0.05 = \frac{65}{0.05}$

Multiply the numerator and the denominator by 100 to remove the decimal places. That is,

$\frac{65 \times 100}{0.05 \times 100} = \frac{6500}{5} = 1300$

Therefore, $65 \div 0.05 = 1300$.
