Functions of Computer Components

System Unit

1. The system unit is the main part of the computer. It contains the processor (CPU) and memory, which are essential for processing data.
2. The processor receives and processes all the data and instructions. It also controls and manages the computer's functions. Additionally, the processor performs logical and arithmetic operations.

Mouse

1. The mouse helps to move the cursor on the screen. It is used to point, select, open, or close files, folders, and windows.
2. It also provides options to manage files, folders, and devices.

Keyboard

The keyboard is used to enter data or information into the computer, such as text, numbers, or symbols.

Screen or Monitor

The monitor or screen displays information in the form of pictures, text, or videos. It allows you to see the results of what you're doing on the computer.

Main Parts of the Computer

There are two main parts of a computer: hardware and software.

Hardware

1. Hardware refers to the physical and tangible parts of the computer that you can touch and see.
2. It works together to perform the four main functions of a computer: receiving input, processing data, storing data, and producing output.

Types of Hardware Components

Input Devices

These devices are used to enter data or information into the computer. Examples include:

2. Mouse (for pointing and selecting)
3. Microphone (for recording sound)

Processing Devices

These devices process the data received by the computer. The processor (CPU) is the main processing device. It follows the instructions to process data and provide the desired output.

Storage Devices

These devices store data for future use. Examples include:

1. Hard disk

2. RAM (Random Access Memory)

3. DVDs (Digital Versatile Disc)

4. Flash drives

Output Devices

These devices display or produce the results after the computer processes the data. Examples include:

1. Monitors (for displaying information)
2. Printers (for printing documents)
3. Speakers (for producing sound)
