Categories of entrepreneurs in Tanzania

According to the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Policy of 2003, entrepreneurs can be categorized into four. These categories are made up of the number of employees and the amount of capital invested in the business. The categories are as follows:

1. Micro entrepreneurs: This category has four or fewer employees and a capital of TSh 5,000,000 or less;
2. Small entrepreneurs: This category has 5 to 49 employees and a capital of more than TSh 5,000,000 to TSh 200,000,000;
3. Medium entrepreneurs: This category has 50 to 99 employees and a capital of more than TSh 200,000,000 to TSh 800,000,000; and
4. Large entrepreneurs: This category has 100 or more employees and a capital of more than TSh 800,000,000.
