Writing Words That Connect Objects and Actions in the Classroom

In Arabic, we learn to connect things (objects) with what we do with them (actions). This helps us write simple sentences about our classroom and school.

Classroom Objects (أسْمَاءُ الأَشْيَاءِ فِي الصَّفِّ)

Here are important objects you find in the classroom:

  • الطَّاوِلَةٌ (the table)
  • الْكُرْسِيٌّ (the chair)
  • الْكِتَابٌ (the book)
  • الْقَلَمٌ (the pen/pencil)
  • الدَّفْتَرٌ (the notebook)
  • الْمِسْطَرَةُ (the ruler)
  • السَّبُّورَةُ (the blackboard)
  • الْبَابٌ (the door)
  • النَّافِذَةُ (the window)

Actions in the Classroom (أَفْعَالُ الصَّفِّ)

Here are actions we do at school:

  • يَجْلِسُ (sits)
  • يَكْتُبُ (writes)
  • يَقْرَأُ (reads)
  • يَدْخُلُ (enters)
  • يَخْرُجُ (goes out)
  • يَمْسَحُ (erases/wipes)
  • يَنْظُفُ (cleans)

How to Connect Objects and Actions

We connect an object with an action by writing a simple sentence. The pattern is:

The person + the action + the object

Worked Example

Look at this picture: A student sits on the chair.

  • الطَّالِبُ يَجْلِسُ عَلَى الْكُرْسِيِّ
  • Translation: The student sits on the chair.

Another example: The student writes in the notebook.

  • الطَّالِبُ يَكْتُبُ فِي الدَّفْتَرِ
  • Translation: The student writes in the notebook.

Practice Writing

Try to match the actions with the correct objects:

  1. The student reads the book. الطَّالِبُ يَقْرَأُ الْكِتَابَ

  2. The teacher writes on the blackboard. الْمُعَلِّمُ يَكْتُبُ عَلَى السَّبُّورَةِ

  3. The student enters the classroom. الطَّالِبُ يَدْخُلُ الصَّفَّ

  4. The student erases the blackboard. الطَّالِبُ يَمْسَحُ السَّبُّورَةَ

Key Points to Remember

  • Verbs in Arabic change their endings based on who is doing the action
  • The object usually comes after the verb
  • Use عَلَى (on/in) to show where an action happens
  • Always write the Arabic words correctly, paying attention to the letters

Real-life application

In Tanzania, when you help in your family's shop or small business, you can use these words to describe what happens at school or at home. For example, if someone asks you what you did at school today, you can say "نَظَّفْتُ الصَّفَّ" (I cleaned the classroom) or "قَرَأْتُ الْكِتَابَ" (I read the book). This helps you practice Arabic while talking about your daily activities.
