Life in the village
Benedict's daily life
Benedict lives with his parents in a small village called Nambala. Their house is on top of a small hill, surrounded by beautiful trees that provide fresh air throughout the year. A river called Majiwepesi is located near their farm.
Benedict's parents are farmers. They grow various vegetables such as carrots, onions, cucumbers, green peppers, cabbages, and spinach. They also cultivate fruits like oranges, mangoes, and avocados.
Every morning during the holidays, Benedict and his parents fetch water from the river to water their garden. They also apply manure to help the vegetables grow well and fast. Their garden is always attractive, and when the vegetables and fruits are ready for harvest, the family uses some for food and sells the surplus.
In their village, there is a market called Pamoja Market. Benedict and his parents take their produce there. At the market, they display their products along with a price list. Villagers love their farm produce, and they earn a lot of money. With their earnings, they buy foodstuffs such as rice, meat, cooking oil, salt, and sugar. They also purchase clothes. Benedict and his family are always happy.
