Talking about Ongoing Activities

This activity can be done by an individual or somebody else. It refers to what is going on at the time of observation, guessing, talking, and so on. This is the Present Continuous Tense or Progressive.

The verbs end with ing.

1. Martha and Consolata are sweeping the floor.
2. It is looking at you.
3. They are eating rice.
4. You are playing nicely.

Examples of Ongoing Activities

1. I am teaching computers.
2. My mother is watering the garden.
3. She is cooking ugali.
4. The sun is shining the whole day.
5. Are you travelling to Accra?
6. The bell will ring at 4:30am.

When You Go to School in the Morning

There are a lot of activities going on. You will see:

1. Some students sweeping the compound.
2. Some students watering the flowers.
3. Some students parading.
4. Some teachers shouting at the students.
5. Parents paying fees.
