When you look at yourself in a flat mirror (like the one you use at home), the image you see has some special features.

1. The Image is Not Real (Virtual). The image you see in the mirror looks like it is behind the mirror, but it's not actually there. You can see it, but you can't touch it or put it on a wall.
2. The Image is the Same Size as You. If you are tall or short, the image in the mirror will be the exact same size as you. It's like a copy of you.
3. The Image Stands Upright. The image in the mirror is not upside-down. It stands just like you do.
4. The Image is Reversed (Left Looks Like Right). If you raise your right hand, the image in the mirror will raise its "left" hand. It looks like the image flips your left and right sides.
5. The Image is the Same Distance Away. If you stand 1 meter in front of the mirror, your image will look like it is 1 meter behind the mirror. The distance is the same.
