Sources of Magnetic Fields

Magnetic fields arise from electric currents. Various configurations produce different field distributions. Below are important laws and applications.

The Biot–Savart Law gives the magnetic field dBd\vec{B} due to a small current element at a point PP:

Vector form:

Definitions:
