Branches of science

Biology is a branch of science that deals with living things. Living things include both plants and animals.

Living things

1. Plants: Trees, flowers, and grass.
2. Animals: Humans, birds, fish, and insects.

Biologists study how living organisms grow, reproduce, and interact with their environment.

Physics is a branch of science that deals with matter in relation to energy. Energy exists in different forms, such as:

1. Heat energy: Found in fire, the sun, and hot objects.
2. Light energy: Comes from sources like the sun, bulbs, and candles.

Electric energy: Used to power appliances like televisions, phones, and computers.

The sun is the primary source of energy. A solar panel is used to capture energy from the sun and convert it into electricity.

Chemistry is a branch of science that deals with the composition and properties of matter. It also studies how matter changes.

States of Matter

Matter exists in three main states:

1. Solid – Has a definite shape and volume.
   • Examples: Stone, sugar, wood.

2. Liquid – Takes the shape of the container and has a definite volume.
   • Examples: Water, milk, juice.

3. Gas – Has no fixed shape or volume.
   • Examples: Air, oxygen gas, carbon dioxide gas.

Scientists study how matter changes, such as how water can change from a liquid to ice (solid) or from water to steam (gas) when heated.
